About this course:
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation and is available for delivery in two ways. This is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end, with a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an Instructor. We’ll cover safety, firearm parts and what they do, safely handling a firearm, storage, clearing malfunctions, cleaning and ammunition.
About your instructor:
Tim Ernst is a NRA-certified instructor in rifle and pistol with 20+ years of firearms experience. He founded RavenWood Training in 2016. Tim has taught youth in Rifle at the Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Association, he’s an Endowment Member of NRA, and a FTRPA member for over 15 years (trap, sporting clays, rifle, pistol, plinking). He has over 30 years of experience with hunting (bear, deer, waterfowl) and firearms. Participates in NRL22 as much as he can. Initially trained in the U.S. Navy, he’s also quite active in his community as a volunteer firefighter/engineer at a local fire company.
Tim is a NRA-Certified Instructor in the Rifle and Pistol disciplines. He’s also a range safety officer and has always enjoyed firearms, learning about firearms and history, as well as learning from his students as much as he instructs them.
